Feeding a Super Bowl Crowd

By Ken Kudra

The Super Bowl will be here before you know it. What will you serve to those crowds of screaming fans that will fill your living room? One of the best favors you can do for yourself is to keep it simple. Everyone will be focused on the TV during the game... they will not be interested in a sit down meal.

Set up a buffet near the viewing area so everyone can get easy access to the food. If you want to serve hot food since the weather is cold, put some crock pots to use. Crock pots can be used to make chili, pulled pork for sandwiches or stew. Swedish meatballs can be picked out of a crock pot with toothpicks or skewers. Other hot dishes could include a big pan of lasagna or a big pot of spaghetti. These foods can be put together ahead of time and cooked at the last minute. Set them out on the buffet and let your guests serve themselves. Buffalo wings are always a hit and they are a breeze to make.

Chips and dips are a great idea. Salsa can be served over cream cheese and served with tortilla chips. Do not order a big deli sandwich... make one. You can use several loaves of French bread or round artisan loaves. Fill them with deli cold cuts and cheeses, wrap them up, and put them in the fridge. When you are ready for them, cut and serve. You can even warm them in the oven if you want to.

Use bread bowls for people to use for chili or even spaghetti. The bowl will taste as good as the filling. Make a bunch of baked potatoes or hot dogs and set them out with toppings. Your guests can design their own dog or potato by adding their favorites.

If you want to stick with an appetizers only party, your choices are endless. From simple cheese and crackers to sausage rolls, you cannot go wrong. You can even find a recipe for beer puffs. Anything wrapped in bacon will be a hit. Wrap bacon around a cube of cheese, a shrimp, or a slice of sausage for an appetizer that will be gone as soon as you put it on the table. Do not worry so much about healthy snacks during the Super Bowl... it is one day that everyone wants to nosh on foods that make them feel good.

Do not forget the beverages. Many football fans appreciate having plenty of beer on hand. Keep it cold in an ice chest near the food table. Sodas are also a good choice for those who prefer not to drink alcohol. Stock several varieties so everyone can find something that they like to drink. Screaming and yelling as the game gets exciting can result in some mighty thirsty guests!

When you serve up Superbowl party food, your guests will be happy as long as there is plenty of great tasting dishes. Be sure to spread your food across the course of the afternoon. Running out of food before halftime would be a disaster! Timing when to set out different foods will make your guests very happy.

Your guests will appreciate the efforts you went to providing them with a delicious afternoon. They will remember your successful party for a long time and you will even get to watch the game most of the time. - 31493

Jacksonville Jaguars Are Ready For The Big Game

By Matt Ryan

Jacksonville, Florida - at a point in time in history - had stated that they could not support a professional football team. However, ticket sales for the Jacksonville Jaguars have proven otherwise and have successfully supported the NFL franchise for years. Jaguar fans are dedicated and continue to purchase tickets and show up to all their home games regardless of their season record.

In'92, the NFL was in a position to add another franchise to the league. Five cities were in the running (1) Charlotte, NC, (2) St. Louis, MO, (3) Baltimore, MD, (4) Memphis, TN, and - of course - (5) Jacksonville, FL. The state of Florida already had two professional football teams, making Jacksonville one of the least likely to be granted a franchise.

Jacksonville was not only at the bottom of the list, but it was almost pre-determined that the new franchise would not be in Jacksonville. TV ratings were low, the city was small, and there just wasn't enough there to justify this decision. Well, until the city sold 10,000 tickets in 10 days there wasn't. These ticket sales proved - to the league - that Jacksonville was worthy of a franchise and that residents would fully support their new team.

The 2009 season will be their 17th year in the league. As of yet, the Jaguars have not made it to a Super Bowl game, but they continually get close. In fact, the made it to the playoffs three times in their first four years - a record in the NFL. In both'96 and'99, the team fought for the AFC Division title - to no prevail but they tried.

The 2007 season proved to be another profitable year for the team as they closed the season with only two losses. Everyone expected this streak to carry into the next season - 2008 - but were proven wrong. The 2008 season ended up being the teams' record worst and is one they wish they could replay.

The Jaguars where cheered for - game after game - by thousands of fans, investors, and even management, but to no prevail. The Jaguars were given plenty of opportunities to cease each game, but something was missing. After the Bengals game, where the Jaguars were beat by a team that had not won a game all season, everyone knew the season would end in disappointment.

The loss to the Bengals pushed the Jaguars in to an aggressive / defensive play mode - one that was not beneficial until one of their last games of the season. When the Jaguars played the Detroit Lions, they won the game by a last minute field goal. This opportunity was missed in many of the earlier games in the season.

Two-thousand-eight ended with a 5-11 record, the worst the team has yet to experience. However, fans are optimistic about the 2009 season. Injured players will be returning to the field along with new players that have been added to the team. Fans - and the Jaguars themselves - are ready to make a name for themselves and this is the season to do it. - 31493

The '09 Season is Special for the Giants and their Fans

By Matt Ryan

Beginning with the season opener against Washington, the Giants appear to be playing the same schedule that they did in the '08 - '09 season. Not only will they be playing all three of their NFC East rivals during weeks- through 15, but they will be hosting the games against the Eagles and the Panthers. These are just a few of the highlights Giants fans can look forward to this year, even if it is the same as it was last season, the details of the games will be different.

During the two weeks of preseason games and practices, the masses presumed that the Giants appeared to have built a strong defensive line. After an astonishing win against the Panthers, in their first preseason game, fans were excited about a strong season. The defensive line, in fact, is strong and ready for a good year.

Coach Tom Coughlin plays a big role in the strength of the Giants this year. He was asked, during preseason, who he believed were his strongest players this year. While he gave kudos to a number of players, mostly on the defensive line, Sintim, Leger Dougable, Bruce Johnson, and Tommie Hill were at the top of the list.

The '09 season will be nothing short of memorable for fans, staff, and team members. They started with the amazing win of their first preseason game, along with the return of a great receiver - David Tyree. Tyree suffered a severe knee injury shortly after Super Bowl XLII, and had to sit on the sidelines during the '08 season. This put the team in a bit of bind, forcing them to find new talent, which they did.

Tyree appears to be completely secure in his position on the team, as this current situation does not appear to be affecting him at all. He, as always, has promised his absolute best for, not only his fans, but his team too. This being said, Tyree is confident in his value to the Giants, and if they run out of room for him, he knows he will be valued on other teams.

Tyree is fully confident that he is healed - 100% from his injury - and that if the team is affected, it is not at the fault of him. He swears that his performance and stamina have not changed, and that he can be what they need him to be, and what he was prior to the '08 season. After watching the first preseason game of '09, most fans support this theory. The '09 season is an exciting season. Not only are the Giants welcoming David Tyree back to the team, but it is their 85th anniversary in the league along with their final year playing in their current stadium.

While the Giants have made a name for themselves with records and awards, this will be a memorable year for fans and team members. After this year they will be playing in the Meadowlands Stadium, which is where the Jets currently play - yes they will be sharing a stadium.

This season brings a lot of excitement for fans across the world. Old players back on the field, anniversary, and closure on a part of the team. StubPass.com has all of the information, necessary, for upcoming games and events. This is the time to get into the stadium before its time to say goodbye. Help the Giants walk out of their stadium with glory. - 31493

Support the University of Kansas Jayhawks with Your Personal Checks

By Alan Plastin

Do you cheer for the University of Kansas Jayhawks? Are you seeking an economical way of showing your school spirit for your beloved college athletic team? If you are, then purchasing University of Kansas personal bank checks is not only a fantastic way of letting everyone know where your dedication lies, but it's an inexpensive means, too.

The University of Kansas has its main campus in Lawrence. Founded in 1865, it is also the Flagship University for the State. As of 2008, it was the 18th most popular university in the United States, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

The school's official mascot is the Jayhawk, a cross between a sparrow hawk and a blue jay. It became a popular word before the Civil War when the Jayhawkers, an abolitionist group, adopted it. Once Kansas became a free state, it became synonymous with the people of the state.

When it comes to men's basketball, the University of Kansas has won 52 conference championships which is an NCAA record. It has consistently been ranked in the AP Top 25 college basketball poll and behind Kentucky and North Carolina ranks 3rd all-time in NCAA Division I. The Jayhawks have also been to the Final Four under more head coaches than any other program. In fact, every single head coach has taken the team to the Final Four. The only two other teams that have won more titles are Kentucky and North Carolina.

While the University of Kansas football team doesn't receive the hype that their basketball team gets, they have been to the Orange Bowl 3 times. Plus, the University acquired the most combined wins by any NCAA Division I program during the 2007-2008 basketball and football seasons.

If you desire to show off your team spirit, then nothing could be easier than carrying personal bank checks that support the University of Kansas.

There are two types of University of Kansas checks to choose from. The Kansas Logo checks come with a light blue background with an image of the Jayhawk in the center and in the upper left hand corner. You can also purchase a matching checkbook cover, debit wallet, and return labels with these checks, too.

The other available style is the #1 Fan Checks for the University of Kansas. These contain a depiction of that diehard fan that takes off from work early on game days and doesn't mind painting their face if the situation calls for it. You can also find coordinating accessories with these checks as well.

If the price and inconvenience of going to your local bank kept you from ordering interesting personal checks in the past, then you might be surprised to learn that by ordering your checks from a safe site you can save up to 50%. You just need to have your routing number and checking account number handy so that they can be printed onto your checks. You can usually expect to receive them in around 3-5 days. - 31493
